What TNT Sports (United Kingdom) Is and How You Can Watch It

TNT Sports UK is a sports broadcasting service owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, created by rebranding the former BT Sport channels. It offers live coverage of major sports, especially football and rugby, to viewers in the United Kingdom. This article explains what TNT Sports UK is, which sports it broadcasts, how to watch it, and how it compares to other UK sports broadcasters.

What is TNT Sports in the United Kingdom?

TNT Sports UK is the new name for the sports broadcasting service that used to be called BT Sport, following its acquisition and rebranding by Warner Bros. Discovery. While the TNT Sports brand exists in other countries, the UK version is specifically designed for British audiences with its own programming and sports rights. It provides live sports coverage and related shows through TV and streaming platforms. Unlike TNT Sports in some other countries, which focus on different sports or leagues, TNT Sports UK mainly broadcasts competitions popular in the UK, such as English and European football and rugby union.

Which sports and leagues does TNT Sports UK broadcast?

Football is the main focus of TNT Sports UK. It has the rights to broadcast the UEFA Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League, showcasing top European club football. It also covers English domestic rugby union, including Premiership Rugby matches. Additionally, TNT Sports UK shows other sports such as UFC mixed martial arts events, WWE wrestling, and selected cricket matches. This mix aims to provide a strong sports lineup for UK viewers, centered mainly on football and rugby but including other popular sports for variety. For example, if you want to watch European club football tournaments or Premiership Rugby games, TNT Sports is where you’ll find them.

How can I subscribe to or watch TNT Sports UK?

You can watch TNT Sports UK in several ways. The service is available as a subscription through its own streaming app, which works on smart TVs, smartphones, tablets, and computers. TNT Sports is also included in some TV packages, including those that previously offered BT Sport. To subscribe directly, you sign up on the TNT Sports website or app and pay a monthly fee. If you already have BT Sport through your provider, you might be able to switch to TNT Sports under your current deal. TNT Sports also partners with some third-party streaming platforms, so you can access it through various devices and setups.

How does TNT Sports UK compare with Sky Sports and BT Sport?

TNT Sports UK replaces BT Sport in the UK market, offering similar sports coverage but under new ownership and branding. Sky Sports remains the main competitor, with a broader range of sports and more extensive football rights, including the Premier League. Compared to Sky Sports, TNT Sports UK has fewer rights but focuses on major European football competitions and rugby union. It offers competitive pricing and a solid streaming service, but its sports selection is narrower. Unlike BT Sport, which was a standalone brand, TNT Sports is part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s global sports strategy, which could influence its content and partnerships in the future. Importantly, TNT Sports UK does not have rights to the English Premier League or some other major UK sports leagues, which continue to be broadcast by other companies.

What are common misconceptions about TNT Sports UK broadcasting rights?

A frequent misconception is that TNT Sports UK shows Premier League matches; it does not. Premier League rights are held mainly by Sky Sports and Amazon Prime Video. Another misunderstanding is that TNT Sports UK’s programming is the same as TNT Sports in other countries, but the sports and leagues it broadcasts vary by region. Some viewers expect TNT Sports UK to cover all rugby matches or all UFC events, but its coverage depends on specific licensing deals. Finally, some think TNT Sports is only available through traditional TV, but it primarily operates as a streaming service, although it can be accessed through certain TV packages as well.

Conclusion

If you want to watch European football competitions like the Champions League or Premiership Rugby, along with UFC and other sports, TNT Sports UK is a good option. You can subscribe directly via their app or find it included in some TV or streaming bundles. Keep in mind it doesn’t cover the Premier League or some other major UK sports, so you may want to use it alongside other sports channels for full coverage. Knowing what TNT Sports UK offers helps you decide if it suits your sports viewing needs.
