A Virginia female was busted immediately after she was found in a viral TikTok movie feeding a black bear in Tennessee when on trip.
Kristin Hailee Farris, 21, of Danville, Virginia, was recorded hand-feeding what appeared to be watermelon, chocolate and other treats to the wild animal in Gatlinburg in late September, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Affiliation reported Friday.
Costs had been filed towards her for illegal black bear feeding in link to the video, which has been viewed a lot more than 500,000 times, information station WVLT noted.
Wildlife officers mentioned rules forbid people today from feeding bears or leaving food in rubbish cans in a fashion that attracts them.
The rule applies to a 6-mile radius close to Gatlinburg and is intended to discourage the beasts from getting into the town.
If convicted, she faces up to 6 months in jail and a $500 fantastic.
“The too much to handle drive to have a near experience with a black bear is strangely much more strong than common feeling,” mentioned Sevier County Wildlife Sgt. David Sexton in a statement.
“Many men and women deliberately feed bears with tiny regard for the dire outcomes to the bears and individuals they leave powering.”
