NYC bar Coyote Ugly to shut down after failed rent negotiations

Following almost 28 years, Coyote Unappealing — the famed dive bar that motivated a film of the exact same name — will shut its doorways in the East Village eternally, CEO and founder Liliana Lovell announced.

“After sitting down shut for 6 months thanks to COVID limits, we simply can not afford to pay for to fork out rent,” she explained in a video clip posted Saturday. Lovell, 52, also posted images of the vacant bar on Initially Avenue and 10th Road soon after packing it up on Monday. “This is tricky and everyday living is not straightforward at times,” she added in the video.
