New York, we love you. And we have arrive up with an artsy way to clearly show it — 193 new flags traveling at Rockefeller Middle.
The 8-foot-by-5-foot banners are fluttering on the legendary flagpoles that ring the ledge above The Rink.
Fittingly referred to as the Flag Project, the general public artwork set up, opened Saturday and will stay up through Aug. 16 for all to see — for free of charge.
Much more than 1,000 folks from around the earth dreamed up styles, which rejoice almost everything from the city’s art and songs to our power, and resiliency, the centre stated. A panel of notables picked the successful entries.
Also whipping in the wind are extra than a dozen flags built by acclaimed neighborhood artists, like Jeff Koons, Marina Abramović, Christian Siriano, Sarah Sze, Steve Powers, KAWS, Laurie Anderson, Hank Willis Thomas, Carmen Herrera, Jenny Holzer, Shantell Martin, Sanford Biggers, and Religion Ringgold.
“There are as many ways to celebrate the toughness, vibrancy and spirit of New York as there are people today in our Metropolis,” stated Rob Speyer, whose Tishman Speyer operates Rockefeller Heart. “We are excited to share all the authentic works in a person position.”
